Koushik Sarkar

Koushik studied photography and film direction at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. An apprenticeship at the iconic Worldwide Video Centre, The Netherlands, lead to his ongoing collaborations with pioneering artists in the field of Video art. He has made several significant documentaries, including ‘Flying in a Blue Dream’ on guitar God – Joe Satriani, published worldwide by Sony BMG & Epic Records.

Making commercials for over two decades, he recently founded Kali Collective India & KITCHEN developing narrative and branded content respectively. His debut short ‘Mono No Aware’ premiered at the LA Shorts International Film Festival 2021 and has been exhibited in three Academy Award Qualifying film festivals till date. The film was also honoured with two awards, Best Script and Best Cinematography, at the 70th National Film Awards, India’s highest accolade for Cinema from the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji in a prestigious ceremony held at the historic Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. He also has also served as a judge and speaker at the recently concluded D&AD Awards 2024.
